When we started working on Simply Crow, the goal was to create a useful and fun tool to help you with your shopping. We felt, the best way to achieve that would be to broaden the canvas of social shopping beyond the usual circle of friends (some of whom may not exactly share your shopping interests or tastes) and make it more useful by including the ‘location’ element.
And what better way to symbolize this than juxtaposing a crow. Known to be an extremely intelligent bird that exhibits remarkable social and communicative behavior, the common crow is a part of our everyday life just like the tool we have built for shopaholics like you.
‘Social shopping’ to us means exchange of useful and exciting information between people with like shopping interests, irrespective of whether they are friends or not. So, we are not a social networking app and there are enough of them to not warrant one more.
We are also not a coupons / deals site that merely provides offers / deals to consumers in a unidirectional manner. They would be of interest only to people who bargain hunt very frequently.
We are trying to create a community of shoppers that is both local and global based only on a simple factor of commonality, like shopping interests. Our platform helps find, share and exchange shopping information that is not only useful, but can also be hyper local (because it is location based). We intend to keep the app free always. The only other way to make money would be to serve ads. But again we want to do that very differently whenever we get started. The goal is to make our ads as useful to people (not intrusive) as regular content is, through precise contextual and location based targeting.
Yes, you can if your products are related to shopping and retail and as long as you adhere to our Terms of Service. Use the platform to post pictures of your products and offers to your own clients and for other Simply Crow users to see. You are free to promote your business legitimately, provided you don’t spam or adopt any illegal, unethical or unsolicited marketing practices. It's simple. Click on the profile tab in the app and you can set up your profile or edit it. There are some details that are marked as private and some that are public. Your public profile will be visible to others when you make any posts, while your private profile will not be visible to others.
Your bio is a very short, crisp description of the kind of shopaholic you are. Feel free to let your creative juices flow. Keep it fun, keep it catchy so that people with like interests will decide to follow you.
Of course, your private profile will always be strictly private. We respect your privacy.
Preferences are actually global filters that enable you to see only the category of posts that are of interest to you.
For ex: If you are a girl interested only in women's fashion and not in gadgets or electronics, then you can choose only the categories you want. Or if you are a guy who is interested only in deals and offers, then you can choose your setting accordingly. Just remember the preferences in your profile setting are global and will affect what you see in your feeds.
Changing settings is fairly simple and can be visually noted by the change of the icon color. Got it? We believe in giving you the choice and the controls to make that choice.
We suggest that you keep your location enabled whenever you use the app because location is key to the utility value and functionality of the app. For ex: If you want to find some good offers nearby, right when you are out shopping in the streets then your location is important to give you the most accurate results. Similarly when you are making a post, we capture the location information so that it can be useful for others. Location is an integral part of the app in order to make it really hyper local.
This is what we call the 'home feed'. It shows you all posts from people you are following, chronologically ordered by time. Clicking on the post anywhere in this feed will take you to a detailed view of the post along with options to like, share, comment etc. Simply put, the home feed shows you posts you have subscribed to.
When you set up your account with Simply Crow, you are automatically subscribed to posts from the Simply Crow editorial team.
Our editorial team keeps hunting for interesting stuff that our users are likely to be looking for. We also curate posts by our users and pick the best ones to be included in the editorial feed. You can always 'unfollow' Simply Crow, if you don't want it. We hope you will find our curated content useful enough to follow.
Yes, of course. Either use the preference setting in your profile if you want to restrict it globally or use the filter option on the top right corner of the app to filter what you see in your home feed.
The posts on Simply Crow (both from users and our editors) could be of products that are geo-tagged based on the exact location of their availability or even products that are found only online. Products that are available online don't have a geo-tag (location).
So depending on whether you want to search offline for a product or shop online, you can use this filter to show you the option you want. Cool, ain't it?
Yes, absolutely. But even there if you use the global preferences or individual filters, then only the posts that meet your criteria will be shown even though they are posted by people who you are following. Got it?
Simple, posts you made will have the option to edit or delete (only for you). Just use it.
Yes, of course. We encourage people to post their queries and we sincerely appreciate people who take the time and effort to reply those queries.
It could be a simple query like 'Where can I find this?' and you may just know the answer to it and want to help. Helping people is noble, helping shopaholics is even nobler. Am sure, the person who asked the query will be grateful.
Remember that over time, it could also turn you into a shopping expert on the Simply Crow network. We will make sure your efforts and time will be rewarded in some way.
Sure, you can for the right reasons. Posts that are explicit in nature, vulgar, pornographic, in poor taste or those that are likely to induce feelings of hate, violence or discrimination based on caste, creed, age or gender are not allowed. Flag such posts and we will make sure we review and take the right call to remove the offending posts. We reserve the right to not remove a post, if we find that the flagging is discriminatory or without sufficient basis to warrant a removal.
This is what we call the 'location feed'. It shows you all posts in the vicinity of your current location irrespective of whether you are following someone or not. And it is chronologically ordered by distance. The closest to you appearing on top and the farthest appearing at the bottom.

We have reason to believe that this is the most important feature of the app. Quite so because it can be very nifty when you are out shopping and want information on the go.
For Ex: You want to know if there are any Nike deals in the vicinity of the place you are shopping at. And bingo, the app finds a post by someone who's just shopped there at a Nike. Isn't that fab?
But always remember that knowing where you exactly are, is key to giving you accurate information. So keep your location enabled.
As we told you, it doesn't matter who you are following. All that matters is where you are and what is in the vicinity.
And the more you contribute through your posts, the more you will see people contributing posts likewise and thus making the whole network useful. Good things have a way of going around.
Of course, you can use the filters to narrow down your choices even in the location feed.
Sadly, no! By disabling your GPS you are not providing us with accurate information of your geo-location. In simple words, we do not know exactly where you are and hence any information that is being provided on that basis is bound to be inaccurate.
We are not a directory listing nor do we aspire to be one. Any information available on shops and offers is based on what interests other users and how we attempt to help each other as a community of like minded shoppers.
Share it with friends through Simply Crow. Share it with people who are following you (because your posts are good!). Share it with the world. As along as there is no personally identifiable information or anything private, why worry!
We have tested the app extensively and find that the experience at different connection speeds may be sub-optimal i.e., it may take a long time for you to upload multiple pictures. So to improve your experience on the app, we restrict upload to just 1 (one) picture. But that could change soon!
Unfortunately in many cases, even a 3G connection may fluctuate based on density of usage or due to interferences like concrete structures in malls etc. While your operator shows that you are running a 3G connection, it doesn't tell you what your upload and download speeds are at any point in time.
So grin (;-) and bear with us, if it takes longer. Thankfully, the upload is designed to happen in the background and hence you can use the phone normally while it's in progress.
We have allowed 5 pic upload for our editorial staffers and merchants, which is why you may see posts with 5 pics.
We may open that feature to normal users too in the near future.
By choosing these options you are making it easy to categorize information about your post and enable us to serve those who are looking for such information more effectively.
Similarly when others do likewise it helps you get the information you are looking for, very easily. It's not complicated though. Actually a breeze with just a couple of taps needed to do it.
Just click on the refresh button to reload the feed afresh. That should show up your recently uploaded post.
Yes, it does. Though we allow upload of standard size pictures, the quality of the images will depend on the camera resolution of your phone.
The pictures that have been taken are normally processed in the background and should get posted even if the connection fluctuates or is intermittent. But we don't save it in any local folders on your phone.
However, if the connection is so poor or non-existent that you get logged out of the app then there are chances that you could lose your snapped pictures.
To create a network of people with like shopping interests, we use the 'follow' method. When you follow people you get their posts in your home feed and when people follow you, your posts appear in their home feed. In fact, any Simply Crow user's posts are a broadcast to their network of followers.
In your social feed, we give you suggestions on who you should follow based on shopping profile matches and the kind of posts they make. Also if you like someone's posts, you check out their profile by clicking on their name. If you like what you see, you can follow them.
While you may want to follow some of your friends on the network, you would have noticed that not everyone in your circle of friends would have the same shopping interests and tastes.
So we encourage you to create your own network and be part of others based on your interests, not based on whether they are your friends.
No, you cannot restrict anyone from following you. However, you can unfollow anyone whose posts you don't like. Since you will not be sharing any personal information on the network other than posts and shopping information, we find it fit to not include an option to restrict people from following anyone.
Simply Crow uses a broadcast methodology for its posts, not a one-to-one messaging system. So you cannot do private posts or messages with only a few select people.
Private messaging and one-to-one sharing is important on social networks where personal information could be shared. Not on Simply Crow!
Adding friends on to the Simply Crow network is simple. Share an invite or a post with friends through Facebook, Twitter or Whatsapp and they can register, login and join you on the network.
Check out 'updates' in the social section where you will get a bird's-eye view of all activities on your account.
Unfortunately, our app is available only for Android devices at the moment. It will be our endeavor to make our app cross platform as soon as possible. So stay tuned!
If you are having a phone running older versions of Android (below Android 4.0) then you will not be able to download the app. The Simply Crow app is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or above.
This could happen because you are running an old version of Android that doesn't provide for an optimal usage experience, though it is still compatible with the app.
The app will work on all Android tablets that run a compatible version (Android 4.0 and above). However, the app is not optimized for tablet screen resolutions and hence you may notice some differences or face some difficulty there.
There are always some stray cases where certain device or screen resolutions or firmware differences could pose problems for our app, even though it works perfectly on the same model of a similar phone. It is our constant endeavor to fix problems that can be resolved, if they get reported.
3G connectivity or above can provide you with an optimal usage experience with our app. However, our app works even on 2G connections though load times may be slower.
Oops! We are sorry about that. Send us a crash report either directly through the app or by email to our technical team. Drop a mail to email@example.com and we will endeavor to fix it as soon as possible.
Our app uses standard Android protocols and permissions like any other app. So it is not going to drain your battery any sooner or slower than the other apps on your phone.

Simply Crow allows you to share pictures of retail products and shopping things you have bought, have come across or possibly aspire for, that come under the broad categories of clothing, fashion accessories, makeup, jewelery, fashion trends, tech trends, tech gadgets and accessories, electronics, home furnishing and décor products, home appliances, art, handicrafts, green and eco-friendly products etc. Any pictures or information that you post or otherwise make available on our Products/Services is referred to as "User Content." You retain all rights in, and are solely responsible for, the User Content you post to Simply Crow. You grant Simply Crow and its users non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide rights to use, store, display, share, and distribute your User Content on Simply Crow solely for the purposes of operating, developing, providing, and using the Simply Crow Products/Services. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict other legal rights that Simply Crow may have to User Content. We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms or our policies.
Following termination or deactivation of your account, or if you remove any User Content from Simply Crow, we may retain your User Content for a commercially reasonable period of time for backup, archival, or audit purposes. Furthermore, Simply Crow and its users may retain and continue to use, store, display, reproduce, re-share, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute any of your User Content that other users have stored or shared through Simply Crow.

If you choose to submit comments, ideas or feedback, you agree that we are free to use them without any restriction or compensation to you. If Simply Crow has not been able to resolve the dispute with you informally, we each agree to resolve any claim, dispute, or controversy (excluding claims for injunctive or other equitable relief) arising out of or in connection with or relating to these Terms by arbitration under the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. In the event, the dispute remains unresolved despite arbitration, then it is agreed that both parties will submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state courts in Bangalore, India to adjudicate the dispute.

Those who choose to access the Product/Service shall be doing so on their own initiative and shall be solely responsible for compliance with their local laws.
Simply Crow reserves the right to determine the form and means of providing notifications to you, and you agree to receive legal notices electronically if we so choose. We may revise these Terms from time to time and the most current version will always be posted on our website. If a revision, in our sole discretion, is material we will notify you. By continuing to access or use the Products after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
